Help Hoima was established as a registered charity in 2007 formalising a strong and long standing link between the Bunyoro Kitara diocese and the Odiham Deanery in Hampshire. The charity became very popular in North Hampshire following the Make Poverty History Campaign, when it started to make up Maternity Packs for new mothers and to raise money for Caesarean Section Kits for the hospital.
The charity has grown considerably since then and now equips and develops schools in the community, supports the Mustard Seed Orphanage and administers tree planting projects with over 17,000 trees planted as of 2010.
Help Hoima built and fully funds the Azur Clinic which delivers over 100 babies a month in a safe and clean environment. The Clinic has Family Planning and immunisation facilities and as of July 2010, a fully functional operating theatre. Help Hoima continues to help those in need at the hospital and in the community and helped to establish the link, between the Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital and the Hoima Hospital. This link promotes medical training and the movement of vitally need equipment and supplies to both the clinic and the hospital.
